Roof Cleaning FAQs

Straight answers to the questions homeowners across the Cotswolds ask us most often.

Still not sure what your roof needs?

Send a photo and your postcode and we will tell you honestly whether cleaning is worthwhile.

How do I know if my roof needs cleaning?
Moss, lichen and algae are usually the clearest signs. You may notice areas becoming green, dark or heavily covered, or moss beginning to grow around tiles, slates and roof edges. If you are unsure, send us a photo or get in touch and we can advise whether cleaning is likely to be worthwhile.
Not necessarily. As long as we have suitable access to the property and have agreed the work beforehand, there is often no need for you to remain at home throughout the job. We will make sure you know what is happening and let you know when the work has been completed.
We will let you know if there is anything specific that needs to be moved or prepared before we start. In most cases, we take care of the necessary setup ourselves. We also take care around windows, doors, garden areas and other parts of the property while carrying out the work.
Access depends on the property and the layout around it. We have our own 20-metre cherry picker, which allows us to reach many roofs without unnecessarily walking across them. Before starting, we consider the safest and most practical way to access the areas that need attention.
This depends on the size and layout of the roof, the amount of growth present and how straightforward access is. Smaller properties can often be completed relatively quickly, while larger or more heavily affected roofs may take longer. We will give you an idea of the expected timescale when we quote.
We take care to clear the material removed during the work rather than simply leaving it around the property. We tidy the working area and remove debris where it can be safely reached. Our aim is to leave the property clean and presentable when we have finished.
We can identify visible issues while carrying out the work, but we are not a roofing repair company. If we notice something such as a damaged or slipped tile or slate that appears to require attention, we will point it out to you. We would then recommend speaking to a suitable roofer if further investigation or repair is needed.
Yes. Photos can be useful for giving us an initial idea of the property, roof covering and amount of visible growth. However, photographs cannot always show everything that may affect the work, so we may need to assess the property properly before confirming the final quotation.
Your quotation will explain the work we are proposing and the price for carrying it out. We will take the size and condition of the roof, access, amount of organic growth and any agreed treatments into account. We aim to make our quotations straightforward, with no unexpected additions once the work begins.
Yes. We provide clear quotations so you know what work has been discussed and what you are being quoted for before deciding whether to proceed. There is no obligation to accept the quotation.
We can discuss future cleaning and maintenance where appropriate. How often a roof needs attention depends on its surroundings, exposure, shading and how quickly organic growth returns. There is no fixed schedule that suits every property, so we prefer to recommend an approach based on the individual roof.
You can contact us by phone, email or through the enquiry form on the website. If possible, provide your postcode and a few details about the property. You can also send photographs if you have them, and we can then discuss the next step with you.
Every property is different, so if you are unsure about anything, just ask. We are happy to explain how the work is carried out, discuss your roof and let you know whether we think cleaning would be worthwhile.
